    Before You Begin

    If you’ve signed up to one of our courses, all of our required and optional materials for that course are linked in your “My Courses” section of our site. Please check there to complete any pre-requisites.

    Here’s a quick overview of what we’ll be covering in the course:

    * In this portion of the course, you’ll get the building block basics of the animation workflow for a typical character setup and set of props. You’ll have some room to explore and experiment as you learn.
    * The subject matter is primarily focused on traditional hand-drawn animation techniques, but we’ll also be digging into some of the newer techniques like motion capture (e.g. in Maya), 3D tracking, or UE4.
    * By the end of the course you should have a feel for the following:

    Understanding how to best lay out your artwork for a more efficient workflow

    How to understand and create the modeling, rigging, and animation pipelines that will allow your characters to flow easily through the workflows

    Getting comfortable working with your typical 2D toolkit, as well as some of the more advanced 3D tools

    * In the final section of the course, we’ll walk through a few pages of design and illustration. We’ll get into vector illustration and design, and learn the basics of 3D.
